On the eve of the constitutional deadline for electing the president, Democratic League of Kosovo has confirmed that it does not see the need for new elections and is ready to contribute to a political solution.
After the Parliamentary Group meeting, the party's spokesperson, Besian Mustafa, said that the common position of the 15 MPs present is that elections at this stage are unnecessary and avoidable.
"We had a meeting of the LDK parliamentary group attended by 15 MPs. The common position is that elections are avoidable, avoidable and unnecessary at this stage," Mustafa declared.
He emphasized that LDK is ready to contribute to the election of the president in two ways.
"LDK is ready to contribute to the election of the president in two directions: first, a broad political consensus with a candidate that comes as a consensus from all political parties and second, a classic political agreement in this case between LVV and LDK," he said.
According to Mustafa, without the Vetëvendosje Movement there can be no solution, given that it has 66 deputies in the Assembly.
"The LVV has 66 deputies and in no format can this be done without them. So far, there has been no formal official proposal for any name," Mustafa said.
He added that the LDK parliamentary group is unique, and so far there is no political agreement.
Asked whether LDK would vote for Vjosa Osmani for president, he did not give a concrete answer.
"It's not a problem of hesitation, but I can't comment on individual candidacies because so far we don't have any official candidacies that have at least 30 signatures," he stated.
Mustafa added that political parties should always be ready for elections, but stressed that at this moment they are unnecessary.
He has not ruled out the possibility of further meetings with Vetëvendosje.
"We have until March 5th at midnight to elect the president. We are open to meetings," he concluded.
Asked about any possible names, including Glauk Konjufca, Mustafa said that "officially there is no proposal." /Telegraph/
