The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stayed tonight at KKUK to learn closely about the health condition of the people who were injured today in Kçic, Mitrovica, from the gas cylinder explosion.

Kurti has praised the staff of the KKUK for the help provided to the people who sought medical help for their injuries.


"For a little more than an hour, the doctors and nurses at KKUK, saved 15 citizens who had an accident from the explosion of a gas cylinder in Kçiq, Mitrovica", Kurti wrote on Facebook, Telegrafi reports.

Kurti said that some are slightly injured, but there are also seriously injured with second and third degree burns.

"We thank the care personnel for their quick intervention and professional commitment, meanwhile we wish the injured a speedy and complete recovery. The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, and the director of ShSKUK, Elvir Azizi, were also tonight at the Emergency Clinic and the Plastic Surgery Clinic, where great efforts are being made to avoid the risk to life in one of the cases," he wrote. the prime minister.

"This is not the first accident like this, citizens and families should pay close attention to the purchase and safe use of gas, always according to strict rules, for their homes and premises. Meanwhile, the inspectorates and other relevant bodies strictly supervise the observance of the appropriate standards of gas cylinders in the market", he said.

Fifteen people were injured on Saturday afternoon as a result of the explosion of a gas cylinder in a village in Mitrovica.

All the injured have been sent for recovery to the Clinical and University Center of Kosovo, due to the burns suffered by the fire, according to SHSKUK.

Four of the injured have undergone surgery, the Hospital Service announced.

The explosion happened in the house of a family in the village of Kciq, the mayor of South Mitrovica, Bedri Hamza, told local media.

"The patients, after having received the initial treatment at the General Hospital of Mitrovica, were brought to the KKUK", said the SHSKUK in a press release.
