Kurti breaks record with over 400 thousand votes, LVV wins over 51%

The incumbent Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has scored a historic result in the parliamentary elections, surpassing the figure of 400 thousand individual votes and ranking as the most voted candidate ever in Kosovo.
According to the latest data published by the Central Election Commission, on January 8, 2026, at 09:36, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement has collected a total of 401,241 votes, while the party he leads has secured an absolute majority of the votes, with 51.01 percent or 484,049 votes, after counting 100 percent of the polling stations, a total of 2,836.

Looking at the history of elections in Kosovo, Kurti has become the most voted candidate, surpassing even the historic president, Ibrahim Rugova, who received 359,851 votes in 2001.
The LVV leader was also voted for by a large margin on February 9, 2025, where he received 337.791 votes, while Glauk Konjufca received 315.300 votes. Vjosa Osmani, the current president of the country, also received over 300 votes, precisely 300.756 votes in 2021.

When we come to parties, after Vetëvendosje, the ranking of political entities continues with the Democratic Party of Kosovo, which received 20.24 percent of the votes, followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo with 13.26 percent, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo with 5.50 percent.
Based on these preliminary results, the distribution of seats in the Kosovo Assembly foresees that LVV will have 57 mandates, PDK 22, LDK 15, AAK 6, while 20 seats will go to representatives of non-majority communities.
Regarding the turnout in the elections, according to the CEC, 45.03 percent of voters participated in the electoral process, namely 900,330 citizens out of a total of 1,999,204 voters registered on the Voter List within the country. Meanwhile, 77,086 citizens were registered to vote outside Kosovo.
The electoral process within Kosovo was conducted in 948 voting centers, with a total of 2,614 polling stations, including regular and conditional voting. Meanwhile, voting abroad was organized on December 27 in 29 diplomatic missions of Kosovo, located in 18 countries, where 19,187 registered voters had the right to vote. /Telegraph/
