Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti participated in the 61st edition of the Munich Security Conference, where he held a series of meetings with world leaders.
He described this event as an important opportunity for "meetings, conversations, exchanges and observations", emphasizing that security was "the key word, even when it was not mentioned".
In a Facebook post, Kurti has published dozens of photos from his meetings, but one of them has attracted public attention: the one where he is seen alongside the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama.
Relations between the two leaders have been frosty in recent years, with marked disagreements on key issues of regional politics.
One of the most tense moments between them was the approach to the Open Balkans, an initiative strongly supported by Rama, but opposed by Kurti, who saw it as a project that favors Serbia to the detriment of Kosovo.
Also, Rama and Kurti have had different positions on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process.
The Albanian Prime Minister has sought a more pragmatic and flexible approach, encouraging an agreement with mutual recognition, while Kurti has been more cautious and often critical of international pressure for compromises that, according to him, could harm Kosovo.
Rama's intervention in 2023 to propose a draft for the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities has been another sticking point.
Kurti has seen this as a reckless and unnecessary move, emphasizing that his government would not accept solutions that could compromise Kosovo's sovereignty.
Although Kurti did not mention the meeting with Rama in his post, the photo of them in Munich has sparked discussions about their relationship. In the image, the two appear relaxed, a marked change from their previous public controversies.
The two leaders' disagreements culminated on July 6, 2023, when Kurti refused to meet Rama, who was on an official visit to Pristina. /Telegraph/
