Kurti: We declared Civil Defense and the Northern Brigade terrorists, the US and the EU did not

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has commented on the public debate on declaring the Serbian List a terrorist organization, emphasizing that such a decision cannot be made by the government, but is the exclusive responsibility of justice institutions.
In the interview with "Politiko", Kurti stated that the Serbian List, in formal-legal terms, remains a registered political party, therefore the executive does not have the authority to attribute to it the status of a terrorist organization.
He added that there is a discrepancy in positions between the Kosovo Government and international allies regarding Serbian organizations operating in the north.
"We have had two Serbian organizations that we have declared terrorist organizations – the Civil Protection and the Northern Brigade – which our international partners have not declared as such," Kurti said, noting that Kosovo has asked allies to also include them on their lists of terrorist organizations, but this has not happened.
According to Kurti, despite this difference, the government has acted correctly.
"Do you see the difference with our allies, both European and American? They have not declared these terrorist organizations that we have declared. And I believe we have it right," he declared.
The debate over the status of the Serbian List has been revived on the eve of the December 28 elections, while the acting prime minister has clarified that any eventual action should come from the justice system, not the government.
