After the new indictment was filed against Thaçi by Special, Krasniqi reacts

After the new indictment against the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi by the Special Court in The Hague, the chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, reacted.

Krasniqi, through a post on the social network Facebook, wrote that this new indictment raises concerns about the approach and focus of these court proceedings.

According to him, these concerns are deepened by the arrest of three other personalities.

"The latest announcement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, that an indictment for obstruction of justice has been added to President Hashim Thaçi, while he has already been in custody for four years, raises concerns about the approach and focus of these judicial procedures.

These concerns are further deepened by the arrest of three other personalities, as well as by the summons to appear before the Specialized Chambers for Hajredin Kuçi.

We strongly support the principles of justice and accountability, but a simple and critical question is raised tonight: Is this justice process reflecting the impartiality and professionalism that Kosovo, its citizens and our liberators in The Hague deserve?", wrote Krasniqi.

He further said that: "We all know that the liberation struggle of our people was just, noble and rooted in the universal right to freedom and dignity. Any attempt to give another direction to this truth risks undermining not only the legitimacy of justice, but also the legacy of a holy war for freedom".

Krasniqi appeals for the Specialized Chambers to act with maximum responsibility.

"Their decisions should be based only on facts and legal principles. Justice should never be used as a tool to rewrite history or to contest the sacrifices of those who fought for the freedom of Kosovo.

We demand justice and only justice, while we stand strongly against any action that violates this fundamental and inviolable principle for every citizen of Kosovo," Krasniqi wrote on Facebook, among other things. /Telegraph/
