Krasniqi does not promise that PDK will vote for the Speaker of the Parliament

The elected deputies of the Democratic Party of Kosovo have arrived at the Assembly of Kosovo to register as deputies of the ninth legislature.

PDK leader Memli Krasniqi was also seen there, and was asked if they had received an invitation for a meeting with LVV leader Albin Kurti, adding that they are waiting to see if he can form the new government.

"The Constitution foresees that the Assembly will be constituted on [April] 15. There is no need for us to vote anyway. All that awaits us is that on the 15th the Speaker of the Assembly will be proposed, we will propose the Vice-Speakers. Why do we need to vote for the Speaker of the Assembly? The Speaker is not a problem if he gets 61 votes. I just hope that there will be respect first of all for the will of the citizens, the vote of the citizens, the Constitution of Kosovo. On Tuesday, the first party will propose the Speaker of the Assembly, this is important to happen. The moment this happens, I am convinced that there is no problem in getting 61 votes," he said.

He added that if Kurti fails to establish a new government, they, as the second party, are ready.

"It is a very normal sequence of legitimacy that in a case where the first fails, then the second takes the mandate. The President should, in the case of Kurti's failure, as the first in these elections, invite us to mandate him. We have Bedri Hamzen mandated. I am convinced that he is beyond a political party figure. A figure acceptable to other political parties and citizens in general, regardless of the votes they gave him on February 9. We should have managed to put the interests of the country beyond the interests and party demands that the parties may have", declared the leader of the PDK.

As he entered the Kosovo Assembly, he was also asked about the position of the president.

"It is too early to talk about a president for 11 months, the current president has a mandate left. If they quickly agreed to form a new government led by Bedri Hamza, I imagine that there are 10-11 months in the process which will bring a new situation," he said.

Yesterday, the deputies elected by the first party to emerge from the February 9 elections, the Vetevendosje Movement, were registered as deputies of the Kosovo Assembly. /KP/Telegrafi/
