Kostadinov denies the allegations: The public procurement procedure was carried out according to the laws in force

The former mayor of Strumica, Kostadin Kostadinov, rejects accusations of misuse of public procurement for the purchase of electric buses worth around 430 million denars.
"I completely reject the suspicion of committing a criminal offense related to the procurement of electric buses in Strumica. The project of strategic importance for the municipality, from which today all residents have clear economic, ecological and traffic benefits, was procedurally initiated by the Municipality, voted by the Strumica Municipal Council and with clear instructions for the formation of the Public Transport Enterprise, the realization of the procurement and the implementation of the project," Kostadinov wrote on Facebook.
He stressed that he believes that all procedures were implemented according to applicable laws.
"I believe that all these steps have been taken in accordance with the law. I also want to emphasize that I personally, and I hope all the mentioned persons suspected of a criminal offense, are at the disposal of all competent bodies to explain in detail how this project was implemented, which today functions without any problems. I do not want to make any political comments," Kostadinov wrote.
Police have filed criminal charges against Kostadinov and five other people for abusing the public procurement procedure for electric buses.
The Ministry of Interior informs that 10 electric buses were purchased for the amount of 429.933.595 denars, which caused significant material damage.
