Kosovo opens new export opportunities, signs agreement with EFTA

Kosovo has signed today the Free Trade Agreement with EFTA member states.

The signing of this agreement was made by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who is staying in Switzerland as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

EFTA Chairwoman Cecilia Malmstrom said that today we are marking an important step in the partnership between EFTA and Kosovo.

"Your presence is a testament to the power of joint cooperation to build closer economic relations. This signing ceremony demonstrates the shared ambitions of our countries to create meaningful opportunities that benefit businesses, workers and communities in both countries," said Chair Cecilia Malmstrom.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that this marks a new chapter in the strengthening of economic relations and the advancement of trade relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the EFTA countries.

"I would like to express my deep gratitude to all EFTA member states for their close cooperation during the negotiation process. The agreement we are signing today establishes a framework for trade relations between the EFTA states and Kosovo and will create new opportunities, giving Kosovo access to EFTA markets," Kurti stressed.

He said that this agreement opens up new export opportunities for our businesses and deeper integration into the European economic framework, enabling Kosovo to compete on a large scale.

"Kosovo has achieved impressive progress in the last four years, with consistent economic growth. Although our region has had democratic crises, Kosovo stands as one of the most democratic countries in the Western Balkans 6," Kurti added.
