Kosovo is covered by snow, meteorologist Rugova: Temperatures in mountainous areas are expected to drop to -12°C

Meteorologist Mendim Rugova has given details on the weather expected in the coming days, warning of low temperatures and stable weather. He emphasized that snow has covered the entire territory of Kosovo, a rare phenomenon in recent years.

Rugova said that for the first time in many years, every part of Kosovo is covered with snow, including the lower areas such as Vermica and around Drini Bardhë.

"The uniform layer of snow has covered the entire territory and the citizens have used this moment to go outside," he declared on Dukagjini TV.

According to Rugova, the minimum temperatures during the following nights will reach up to -8°C or -9°C in low areas and up to -12°C or -13°C in mountainous areas. However, the temperatures will not be extreme compared to the past. As an example, he mentioned January 1985, when a record temperature of -27.2°C was recorded in Pristina.

The meteorologist predicted stable weather for the next seven days, with clear skies and no new rain. "During the next week, minimum temperatures will be lower under clear conditions, while during the day they will remain between -1°C and +2°C," said Rugova.

He added that there may be light fog in the low-lying areas during the morning, but in general the weather will be clear and calm.

Rugova pointed out that recent years have had mild winters and snowfalls have been rare. This has made this week's snow welcome by the citizens, who have enjoyed this change in atmospheric conditions./Telegrafi/
