General Ded Prenga commented on recent developments in the region and the role of the US administration in the stability of the Balkans.

He assessed that stability has now been ensured, as according to him, the US administration has set clear borders for Belgrade and has avoided any possibility of opening a new conflict in the region, although minor provocations remain possible.

"I see that this reality has forced the Trump administration to issue such a statement, which has defined in points how Serbia should move. It has been guaranteed that conflicts and the opening of a new war front are closed. The US administration's statement has served as an alarm for Belgrade, forcing the Serbian government to follow a clear political line and avoid any provocation that could destabilize the region," he told Euronews Albania.

Prenga also underlined the importance of mutual recognition between Serbia and Kosovo, stressing that the political process and public opinion in Serbia are not yet ready to fully accept this reality. The general stressed that the tense situation in the Balkans requires a cautious approach and that Belgrade's actions are under constant scrutiny by the US administration and the international community.

"The issue of mutual recognition is not yet prepared politically and by public opinion in Serbia. There are strong currents and reactions that make quick acceptance difficult, but I am convinced that the moment of acceptance will come," he added.
