Kosovo aims to produce about 20 types of drones

The government signed this week the decision which paves the way for the process for Kosovo to have its own ammunition production industry. And, for the production of ammunition, the state has partially ready the infrastructure of the former ammunition factory in Prekaz i Skenderaj.

In addition to the Bayraktar drones produced in Turkey, drones that are expected to be produced by Kosovo are also expected to fly in our skies.

After this week the Government started the process for the establishment of the Ammunition Factory and the Laboratory for the Design and Development of Drones/Unmanned Aircraft, Dukagjini television learns that it is planned to produce about 20 types of drones.

Similar drones like these reach a maximum speed of up to 95 km/h depending on the type, and can carry a weight of up to 1 kilogram.

The country's plans to produce ammunition or bullets for the army's weapons have turned its eyes to the ruins of the past.

One such is located no further than 1 kilometer from the towers of the Jashari family in Prekaz.

"The ammunition factory in Skenderaj employed over 300 people, it had 4 processing departments while its capacity was up to 4500 bullets per hour. It supplied not only Yugoslavia, but also European countries and even had interest from the United States of America."

In the factory where Haxhi Qerimi used to work, 4 types of bullets for hunting rifles were produced. The representative of the workers of the former factory is the wonder of this craft.

In his office, he keeps both the memories of the past and the testimony of the former greatness.

"This is the foundation, we got the raw material in Vushtrri and produced it here, this is the pipe, the raw material we got in Italy is polypropylene and we produced it here, this is the capsule we got from Bosnia, this is the gunpowder we got in Poland, these are the things we produced here because the bullet was taken in Zveçan, the thread is also produced here", stated Haxhi Qerimi - representative of the workers of the former Ammunition Factory.

In the factory where he used to work together with Hamëz Jashari, recently Qerimi has started to return more willingly. The interministerial commission, which can start the necessary procedures for opening the factory, has the opportunity to produce ammunition, even fixed in this location that has an area of ​​almost 19 hectares.

"I am taking the bullet as an example, it is made of 4 elements, the base, we can produce it here, the capsules must be taken from somewhere outside, the gunpowder must also be taken from somewhere outside, the bullet and the cartridge, if Zvecani starts working, I will melt the bullet, we can fix the bullets ourselves", stated Haxhi Qerimi - representative of the workers of the former Ammunition Factory.

Regarding the Government's decision, Dukagjini television has requested a position from the Office of the President Vjosa Osmani.

Through a written response, her media advisor, Bekim Kupina, said that President Osmani has constantly discussed the issue of the defense industry with the KSF and the Ministry of Defense, therefore she welcomes this new plan./Dukagjin/
