Knife attack at school in France, one dead, three injured

A student has been stabbed to death and at least three people have been injured in a knife attack at a private school in western France, the BBC reports.

The attack took place at the Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides high school in Nantes on Thursday, the Telegraph reports.

The attacker was reportedly arrested at the scene after being stopped by a teacher.

Police and emergency services were sent to the school to carry out the evacuation.

Eyewitness accounts in local media described students running, with some locked in classrooms after the alarm went off.

The Minister of Education and the Minister of the Interior of France will visit the school.

Élisabeth Borne wrote on social media that she would "express solidarity with the victims."

Nantes public prosecutor Antoine Leroy is said to have visited the school and will hold a press conference at 19pm local time. /Telegraph/
