Klopp confirms the injuries of Jota and Alisson after the challenge against Manchester City

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said injuries to Diogo Jotas and Alisson Becker have cast a 'shadow' over their 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

Alexander-Arnold's goal equalized the numbers in the meeting played at the "Etihad" after Haaland had previously scored in the first half to give the "Citizens" the lead.

Guardiola's men had most of the time in possession and chances were on their side, so the "Reds" should leave satisfied with a point from this encounter.

However, striker Jota was sent off shortly after half-time and Alisson also picked up a knock.

"Alisson and Jota felt something there, we have to evaluate it and then see. This is not looking good", said Klopp initially after the match.

Further, speaking about Alisson's physical condition, he said that he hopes there is nothing serious but had no answer when asked about the extent of the injury.

"I hope it's not that serious, but I don't have an answer, I don't know what it is at the moment. I spoke to him and he said he felt a blow, but we have to wait for the medical tests," added Klopp.

As injuries dealt a 'huge blow' to Liverpool, this result once again opens the race for the title. City looked poised to put some distance on their rivals, but this draw will help other teams follow the pack.

Liverpool will undoubtedly struggle to compete for the title if any serious injury is confirmed for Alisson.

The next match for Liverpool will now be against the Austrian team LASK in the Europa League and until then it remains to be seen how the situation will be with the duo in question./Telegraph/
