Klitschko thanks him for his support for Ukraine – Abdixhiku demands recognition of Kosovo

The Mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, has thanked the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, for the continuous support that Kosovo has given to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression.

At the meeting held within the framework of the proceedings of the Congress of European People's Parties (EPP), which is being held in Spain, Abdixhiku expressed gratitude for the resilience of the Ukrainian people and emphasized that Kosovo, as a country that has gone through a similar period of challenges, understands the importance of international support for an independent state fighting for its sovereignty.

"The people of Kosovo stand by Ukraine. We know well what it means to defend freedom and statehood in difficult conditions. Our support is sincere and continuous," Abdixhiku declared.

The LDK leader also emphasized that recognition of Kosovo's independence by Ukraine would be a historic step and would strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

"We expect that Ukraine, as a state that is itself fighting for its right to exist, will recognize the independence of the Republic of Kosovo. Such a gesture would have great political and symbolic weight for both countries," Abdixhiku said.

The meeting between Abdixhiku and Klitschko comes at a time when international solidarity towards Ukraine remains important in the face of Russian aggression, while Kosovo continues to seek further recognition in the international arena.
