Khadijah

Poem by: Mile Stojić

Hatixa Mehmedovic
I saw you at the Popular Theater
of Sarajevo
For the first time in the theater
sat in the first row
I saw a sad figure in you
with traces of the past

The academy was called by
Mothers of Srebrenica
some poet said something about Dante's Inferno

We talked for a long time about everything
for genocide, for justice
for the future of the three peoples
I was thinking of three names
killed men
sons Azmiri, Almiri
and husband Abdullah

Hatixa spoke
"I am waiting for you. I call you. I ask you.
Come sometime and tell me
if we kiss Nana, do you see us, and then go, forever go"

They said "We came my mother, don't you believe it,
with you we are everywhere and nowhere"

This is how Hatixha spends her days
In the empty, abandoned and sad house in Srebrenica
in empty, abandoned and sad Bosnia
in our empty and broken hearts
until the months in her appearance leave them
three signs that are never seen
and tears so many tears
