Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Besim Kelmendi, in an extraordinary press conference, said that the articles that have been published in the media in recent days are untrue and slanderous.

"I am very sorry that a well-known portal "Paparaci" continues to report untruths. The published news is untrue and tendentious. The data is completely false. I have had such articles before from the same portal by its owner Vehbi Kajtazi," said Kelmendi.

The Acting Chief Prosecutor also made serious accusations against journalist Kajtazi.

"The reason why he writes and slanders me is that he has been with me to gain benefits. After I refused these requests and his attempts to exert influence on my work, he also sent me blackmailing SMS messages, which former Chief Prosecutor Aleksandër Lumezi was also informed about," Kelmendi said at a press conference.

Kelmendi says that it is no coincidence that this portal wrote an article against him today.

"To say things that I have never done in my life, nor would I have dared to do. Whatever claim Vehbi Kajtazi makes in his writing shows that things are completely different. I am glad that today the Special Prosecution Office has given me the opportunity to give a statement that confirms everything that I am saying before you today," said Kelmendi, emphasizing that he testified in the capacity of a witness.

He added that he had never been to the village of Reçak in his life until 2001, and had never been a judge or prosecutor before 2000 when he was first elected as a judge at the District Court in Pristina.

"I was fortunate to be a judge along with two international judges and an international prosecutor in the Recak case, where a participant in the commission of the murders was accused and who, thanks to my contribution, was found guilty, and today we have a final verdict for this accused," said Kelmendi.

He said that at the time he was operating under a different name for security reasons.

"For security reasons at that time, I acted under the name Alban Lumi. This is the first time I am saying it publicly."

The Prosecutors' Association has also reacted differently regarding the reports, requesting the media that published this news to report correctly, without distortions and without speculation.

"The publication of unverified information and the manner in which it is presented to the public risks creating harmful perceptions towards the State Prosecutor and is unacceptable," the reaction said. /Telegrafi/
