Keep cockroaches away by placing this household product in corners

Spring is the time of year when we start opening our homes to the outside world. The longer days and milder weather make this the ideal time to keep the windows and garden doors open.

However, this can also bring unwanted visitors indoors, especially in areas like the kitchen, where food is stored and prepared.

In recent weeks, you may have noticed an increase in cockroaches moving around, and if you’ve been making the most of the warm days, there’s a good chance they’ve made their way inside your home. Spring is the time when ants become more active – even the tiniest bits of food left in the kitchen can be a feast for them. As they reproduce and establish new colonies, they become particularly persistent and intrusive, seeking shelter in the interior of your home.

Warm indoor habitats provide ideal conditions for ants to establish nests. They can enter through the smallest cracks without being noticed.

If you don't want to always keep your windows or patio doors closed, especially when the weather is nice, there is a natural and simple solution that you can prepare yourself at home; and the deterrent is toothpaste.

Furthermore, chemical products often harm beneficial insects, such as bees, that may live near your home.

Toothpaste as a natural repellent against ants

An effective and safe alternative is to use toothpaste as a natural deterrent. The strong mint scent contained in the toothpaste interferes with the chemical signals (pheromones) that ants use to find their way, discouraging them from entering your home.

This method is practical, safe and currently affordable.

How to prepare it?

Ingredients:

Half a cup of water

One tablespoon of dishwashing detergent

A spoonful of peppermint toothpaste.

Instructions:

In a container, mix the toothpaste with water and detergent;

Mix well until a homogeneous solution is formed;

Pour the mixture into a spray bottle;

Apply it to surfaces where you notice ant activity – such as window sills, kitchen corners, or counters. /Telegraph/
