Pop star Katy Perry celebrated her 41st birthday, but instead of congratulations, she was met with widespread criticism on social media for an action that many considered inappropriate.

The singer, who is currently on her Lifetimes tour, celebrated her birthday on October 25th and her team surprised her with a huge cake. Perry posted photos and videos from the celebration on social media, including the moment she blew out the candles in front of the crowd.

A moment later, Perry grabbed the cake and threw it at a member of her team, who managed to dodge it at the last moment. The cake ended up on the floor and several dancers began eating pieces from the floor as her new partner, former Canadian politician Justin Trudeau, looked on.

The celebration video quickly sparked a flurry of negative comments. While some came to the singer's defense, most social media users condemned her action, calling it immature and disrespectful.

"The team surprised her with a birthday cake and she threw it at someone. This woman is truly pathetic," "A grown woman who clearly doesn't care about the efforts of those who made the cake and those who will clean up the mess later," were some of the comments.

Many pointed out that the singer's behavior showed a lack of respect for the people who gave her a surprise, while others recalled that such scenes do not suit someone with her career and experience. /Telegraph/
