Kambovski: Resignations by judges and prosecutors will not bring reforms to the judiciary

The President of the Association of Judges, Aleksandar Kambovski, after the judicial conference "Strengthening judicial independence and accountability through greater efficiency of procedures", organized with the support of the OSCE Mission in Skopje, said that resignations by judges and prosecutors will not bring reforms in the judiciary.

He said that reforms are made through changes to laws.

"Resignations are not reform. The Judicial Council has now been completely changed. This is how the Constitutional Court envisioned the Judicial Council, so that we would not all have the same members."

"If we want reform, then this is done by changing the law, reducing the mandate, and with personnel changes alone there is nothing. What is the guarantee that the new judges will contribute to the improvement of the judiciary," says Kambovski.

He added that the way these reforms have been carried out in the past must be changed, the thinking matrix must be changed, and the judiciary must finally gain its financial independence, which it is entitled to under the law and the constitution. /Telegraph/
