Kamberi: The US demands responsibility from Belgrade for discrimination against Albanians in the Valley

Shapi Kamberi, the Albanian MP in the Parliament of Serbia, has reacted after the approval of resolution HR 6411 by the US Congress's Foreign Affairs Committee, which concerns the ethnic and national rights of Albanians in the Presevo Valley.
Kamberi emphasized that the adoption of this resolution represents an official stance of the United States of America towards the systematic discrimination of Albanians in the Valley and an important step towards seeking legal and political responsibility from Serbia.
He expressed special gratitude to Congressman Keith Self, chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe, for his initiative and leadership, as well as the bipartisan support of the Committee's chairman, Brian Mast, and vice chairman Gregory Meeks. According to Kamberi, the resolution is now expected to be approved by the US Congress itself.
In his post, Kamberi recalled that this achievement is the result of a long effort since 2001, built on patience, perseverance and faith, under the continuous support of Joe DioGuardi and Shirley DioGuardi, as well as the Albanian-American Civic League.
He also appreciated the role of the Albanian community in Texas, especially the organization Albanians For America, as well as the support of the Government of Kosovo for the Presheva Valley.
"A long and just battle, today crowned with success. The United States is demanding legal and political responsibility from Belgrade for the systematic discrimination of Albanians in the Presevo Valley," Kamberi wrote, adding that "our voice was heard and our work is being seen."
He thanked all those who, according to him, "never stopped", describing this development as an important political and moral victory for the Albanians of the Presheva Valley.
