KEK workers protest in Pristina for salary increases and the 13th month salary

Today (12/12/2025), in front of the central offices of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) in Pristina, a large number of workers from different sectors of the corporation held a peaceful protest, demanding a salary increase and the payment of the 13th salary.
Workers expressed their dissatisfaction with banners and slogans such as: "Workers at risk at work, but riskiness is not paid", "We want a wage increase, and we want life" and "Management, respect labor law, pay weekends for shift workers", reports Telegrafi.
The President of the New KEK Union, Nexhat Llumnica, on behalf of the workers, emphasized that the demand for the 13th salary is fair and that workers are the foundation of Kosovo's economic development.
"Who deserves the 13th salary more than us? While the demand for a salary increase is long overdue, the salary has not been increased. ... we are here today hearing promises for the entire public sector that are paid for by the taxpayers of Kosovo, by our own people, who receive the 13th salary and not giving the KEK worker the 13th salary is more than shameful," he declared.
The head of the Union added that the workers' apologies and efforts are being misused, calling for respect for the law and workers' rights.
"While the demand for a salary increase is long-standing, the salary has not been increased. Today we express our dissatisfaction in this form, but we will not be so calm next time. The company is not only for the management, but for the workers and all of Kosovo. Without us, there is no economic development," Llumnica emphasized.
Unionists warned that if the demands are not addressed, further union action may be taken.
The protest took place peacefully and without incidents, while the workers demanded that their voices be heard by KEK institutions and management. /Telegrafi/
