CEC shows the number of canceled envelopes with ballots from the diaspora

The Central Election Commission is continuing to evaluate ballot packages from voting outside Kosovo, namely voting by mail, which began on February 9, 2025.

The Chief Executive Officer of the CEC Secretariat, Burim Ahmetaj, during the CEC meeting said that so far, 8,776 envelopes or packages of ballots have been subjected to the evaluation process, of which 8,247 packages have been approved, while 529 have been rejected for various reasons.

"They were canceled during registration: 395, more than one ballot inside the envelope, 34: missing stamp/postmark, 5: different state of sending the envelope from the state where the voter is registered, 16: only the receipt (without the ballot), 50: sent the envelope with the ballot more than once, 29," he said.

According to him, during the postal voting period, the CEC received 68,712 packages of ballots, while the number of voters registered for postal voting was 84,600.

"At the end of the evaluation of these packages, it will be known exactly how many packages with ballots will be subject to counting."

According to the procedures, the packages with ballots are subject to the evaluation process, which includes verifying whether they belong to registered voters and whether other prescribed procedures have been followed, while the counting of these ballots will take place at a later stage at the Counting and Results Center," said Ahmetaj.

Meanwhile, overall, the number of Kosovo citizens registered to vote outside Kosovo was 104,924, of whom 20,324 were registered to vote at diplomatic missions, but only 15,352 voted, while 84,600 citizens were registered to vote by mail. /Telegrafi/
