Juventus initiate first contacts for the transfer of the top striker from the Premier League

Sky Sport Italia claims that Juventus have contacted Crystal Palace for Jean-Philippe Mateta, but their offer of €35m is unlikely to be enough.
The interest was mentioned this evening by transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who suggests the centre-forward could help strengthen the options available to coach Luciano Spalletti amid Dusan Vlahovic's injury.
His report states that Crystal Palace are asking €30-35m for Mateta, but this is a very different view compared to the British media.
They place the asking price closer to €55-60m, a figure that would be well above Juventus' budget for a January transfer, especially given that Manchester United are also believed to be interested.

Mateta is 28 years old and his contract with Palace only lasts until June 2027, which is why his value may have decreased significantly from previous levels.
He first arrived in London from Mainz in January 2021 on loan, completing the transfer a year later for a total fee of around €14.5 million.
The France international has scored 10 goals this season in 32 official appearances for Crystal Palace, as well as providing two assists.Telegrafi/
