Jurgen Klopp has a message for Liverpool fans after they were declared Premier League champions
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has delivered a message after his old team were declared Premier League winners.
Liverpool became champions of England for the first time since the 1989/199 season under Klopp, winning their 19th title in the 2019/2020 season.
The Reds confirmed their 20th title on Sunday, comfortably defeating Tottenham at Anfield.
New coach Arne Slot generously credited Klopp for leaving him with a team of players who were ready to punish reigning champions Manchester City.
"This is not just my job, it's the job of the players who are staying here and the staff who are staying there and the job of Jurgen and Pepijn (Klopp's assistant) who have left here," Slot said.
Klopp responded to the compliment on Monday with a heartfelt letter to the new English champions.

"Very grateful for the past, very, very happy with the present and extremely positive for the future," Klopp wrote on Instagram.
Klopp spent nine seasons as Liverpool manager before stepping down from the role at the end of last season.
He then took on a senior strategic role in the Red Bull group that owns several clubs, but was not forgotten on Sunday during Liverpool's title celebration.Telegraph/
