After the tragedy in Kolovica, Pristina, Xhelal Sveçla resigns

Until now, the director of the Inspectorate of the Municipality of Prishtina, Xhelal Sveçla, is no longer part of Shpend Ahmeti's cabinet.

He has resigned from his post, after the tragic death of two children of the Mramori family in the Kolovicë neighborhood of Pristina.

"It is a great tragedy. To say I feel regret is an understatement. It's a tragedy not only for the family", Sveçla said on KTV's Interactive.

He, on behalf of the Municipality of Pristina, has said that he bears human responsibility and that all bodies are available for cooperation to find the culprit.

"Since 2014, together with my colleagues, I have had the task of leading the Directorate of Inspection in the Municipality of Pristina, and I am proud that for all this time we have done great work. We have banned all constructions without permission and have put order in the use of public space. We have stopped the corruption installed since the war by the previous governments and we have sent dozens of inspectors to the prosecutor's office. We demolished 119 houses that posed a danger to citizens. We have identified and cleaned 117 illegal landfills. We confiscated over 2000 vehicles that violated traffic laws. In 2015 alone, we processed nearly four thousand cases. We have foreseen many risks, including the closure of some pits. However, unfortunately, it was impossible to eliminate all the irregularities", he said.
