Jakup Krasniqi's defense continues closing statement in The Hague

Jakup Krasniqi's defense team will continue today with its closing statement.
His defense, led by attorney Venkateswari Alagendra, began final submissions on Friday afternoon, KosovaPress reports.
She told the court that her client has been unjustly deprived of his liberty for five years.
Krasniqi's lawyer said that there is only one option - for Krasniqi to be declared innocent of all counts of the indictment and returned to his family.
Jakup Krasniqi's defense has an hour and a half to complete its closing arguments.
After that, the panel will ask questions to the parties for two hours. Then it is the turn of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office to respond.
The KLA quartet will address the jury on Wednesday with closing statements, each lasting 20 minutes.
This marks the final phase of the largest trial in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
Chief Specialized Prosecutor Kimberly West has requested a 45-year prison sentence for each of the former KLA leaders.
The defense teams of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selim and Jakup Krasniqi have requested that they be declared innocent of all counts of the indictment.
They stated before the trial panel that there is no evidence to support the ZPS's claims of war crimes.
Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are facing charges brought by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, which they have described as unfounded. The defense has also rejected these charges and argued that the KLA did not have an organized command structure.
Their trial began on April 3, 2023 - almost three years after the indictment was confirmed, during which the former KLA leaders have been held in the detention center in The Hague.
