Izet Zeqiri on "PodGo": We have implemented two major projects at "Mother Teresa" University, I will not run for re-election as rector

The rector of the "Mother Teresa" University, Izet Zeqiri, is the next guest on the "PodGo" show with whom we discussed various topics. Zeqiri, who in addition to his academic life, has recently also held artistic exhibitions, said that art helps him in his daily life. He spoke about his position as rector of the "Mother Teresa" University, highlighting two important projects that he has achieved.

"Two and a half years ago, I took the position of rector of Mother Teresa University. As an MP, I resigned because I failed to gain the trust of the citizens and I was unfulfilled in my career and I wanted to contribute to education. When I went to UNT with my experience in education, I wanted to give that experience there. There we managed to realize two important projects. We managed to build the campus in the Ilinden barracks and we managed to make the project for the construction of the new campus, which has been approved by the Government and will soon begin construction," said Zeqiri, who emphasized that he will not run for a second term as rector at UNT.

As for the economy of North Macedonia, he said that the economy is burdened day by day and that the standard of living in the country is quite low.

"The economic situation in the country is not favorable, and this is one of the reasons why I started to deal with art. The economic situation is getting worse day by day. We have an almost last standard of living in the Western Balkans. We have low GDP growth. It is difficult to influence the economic policies of the state. Every investment that the state makes is made by going into debt. We have the lowest average salary. We have the lowest minimum wage in the entire region. We have extreme poverty of the population," said Zeqiri.

"The first thing we need to do is deal with the productivity of employees in public administration. We have the lowest productivity in the Western Balkans. This does not mean spending more physical strength to work, but working smarter. We need to fight corruption," said Zeqiri, among other things.

As for the development of tourism in the city of Tetova and Kodra e Diellit, Zeqiri said that it is very important to have an urban plan, as well as tourist offers.

"We have failed in the development of tourism, especially mountain tourism in Kodra e Diellit. Many projects have been promised, but nothing has been done. It is a loss that we are unable to put these resources to good use for the city. There is no strategy and a strong tourism sector within the Municipality of Tetova. There is no tourist offer. I think it is very important to have an urban plan, to allow investments and to have a tourist offer. Tetova is developed and has tourist capacities, but work needs to be done", said Zeqiri, among other things. /Telegrafi/
