"It was disrespectful," Van Dijk reacts after Arne Slot was asked about Xabi Alonso

Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has said it was "disrespectful" for Arne Slott to ask him about rumours linking Xabi Alonso with his job as the Reds' next manager.
Arne Slot sat in the Velodrome stadium press room on Tuesday and was asked a pointed question: whether Xabi Alonso, who is being linked as a possible replacement, had contacted him.
The Dutch coach, with typical British humor, replied: "He called me and told me he will be in charge in six months, or even sooner."
But not everyone found it funny. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk thinks the question crossed the line.
According to BBC, The centre-back spoke to the reporter after the Reds' 3-0 win over Marseille in the penultimate match of the Champions League group stage.
"That question was disrespectful," Van Dijk initially declared.

The defense attorney took the opportunity to focus attention on the issue at hand.
"The criticism is justified if you look at what we have done this season, especially compared to last season. It has been a difficult period for the players and the coach, but he has coped well."
Otherwise, the evening in Marseille had a special flavor for the Dutchman. He reached 350 appearances for Liverpool, a historic moment that he celebrated with a victory and a clean sheet.
Since that 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, Liverpool have not lost again. Thirteen games without defeat and a sense of solidity that, this time, left no room for jokes. /Telegraph/
