"It is a symbol of our freedom", President Osmani with an emotional speech at the "Peacemaker of the Century" award ceremony for President Bill Clinton

The President of the State, Vjosa Osmani, on Tuesday evening in Berlin read a 'Laudatio' - an honorary speech for President Bill Clinton, who was honored with the "Peacemaker of the Century" award by the "World Forum".

The head of state, with an emotional speech, showed the difficult journey of the people of Kosovo for freedom and independence and the good fortune that the new generations in Kosovo now have, living in peace and without fear, reports Telegrafi.

Osmani began her speech with her daughters' 11th birthday, which was just a few days ago, and with whom she said that before going to bed, in their usual discussions, they recalled how blessed they are to fall into bed without the sound of guns.

"They are the first generation of children who are free to go to school, who freely speak their language, and the first generation who see their parents go to work without fear of being arrested... the first generation of children who do not know war, but who have only lived in peace," said the head of state.

She further stated that while standing at this event next to President Bill Clinton, she remembered March 1999.

"As I stood before him, I remembered March 1999, when we listened with hope to his speeches on a small radio, while experiencing the horrors of the Milosevic regime. Today, thanks to the liberation war and thanks to the leadership of the democratic world and bipartisan American support, from both Democrats and Republicans, Kosovo breathes free and independent," she said.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo further said that for the citizens of Kosovo, President Clinton and former Secretary Clinton are not just allies, they are symbols of our freedom, reports Telegrafi.

According to her, President Clinton chose not to ignore the people of Kosovo when they were facing genocide from Serbia.

“President Clinton's support for Kosovo has always been a reflection of American values—of freedom, justice, and democracy.

"Thank you, President Clinton, not only for the agreements signed, but above all for the lives saved. And in particular, thank you on behalf of the current children of Kosovo—the first generation that is not growing up in war and that knows only peace," Osmani said, among other things. /Telegrafi/
