Israelis bomb Turkish hospital in Gaza, say it was Hamas base

The Israeli military has bombed a Hamas command and control center near the Netzarim Corridor, a strategic area that has been a frequent target of fighting in the ongoing conflict.

According to Israeli military sources, the target of the attack was a structure used by Hamas for military operations and coordinating attacks against Israel.

Among the buildings hit by the clashes was the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, an institution established by Turkey to provide healthcare to the Palestinian population. Originally built with a humanitarian mission, the hospital was billed as one of the largest medical aid projects in Gaza. However, Israel has accused Hamas of converting the facility into a military facility, using it to hide military equipment and for logistical purposes.

The Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital was also the only oncology hospital in the region, specializing in the treatment of cancer patients. According to media reports and humanitarian organizations, the destruction of the hospital has left about 10 cancer patients without access to life-saving treatments, including chemotherapy and other specialized therapies. The situation exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where a lack of medical supplies and the destruction of health infrastructure have created a critical situation for patients and doctors.

Meanwhile, the international community has called for an independent investigation into the attack and for respect for international humanitarian law, which prohibits the targeting of civilian objects. Turkey has strongly condemned the destruction of the hospital, calling it an unacceptable act that violates the rights of civilians and exacerbates the suffering of the Palestinian people.

As tensions continue, humanitarian organizations and international agencies have raised grave concerns about the impact this attack will have on the sick in Gaza, who now face a complete lack of specialized medical care. /Telegraph/
