During today's visit to Gaza, Israeli General Eyal Zamir stated that the army will not give up on its military goal of demilitarizing the Strip and destroying Hamas, while confirming that the army has such plans ready to be implemented if the government gives the order.

"During the war, we achieved unprecedented success, all Hamas battalions on the front line have been destroyed. Hamas has been defeated militarily, and all the hostages have returned home," Zamir said in the Rafah area.

He added that the Israeli army is deployed along the security border, controls entrances to the Gaza Strip and systematically clears the area of terrorist infrastructure.

Zamir says the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is "ready to move from defense to offense" and that it will "react to any violation."

"We do not give up on the goal of the war, the complete demilitarization of the Gaza Strip and the destruction of Hamas. We act in accordance with directives from the political level, and at the same time we have clear military plans and are ready to act offensively as needed," Zamir said.

This week, the newspaper The Times of Israel reported that the IDF has drawn up plans for a renewed offensive in Gaza aimed at destroying Hamas.

"There is no immunity for terrorism. What applies to Gaza applies to other areas as well. We will continue to be focused and reduce the threats, decisively and offensively," he added.

Otherwise, Israel launched attacks on Hamas militant forces on October 7, 2023 after a terror attack in Tel Aviv. /Telegraph/
