Iran tests alarm system amid fears of war

Iran conducted a comprehensive test of its mobile phone emergency warning system, issuing test alerts to selected users, as the country faces growing anxieties about the possibility of a wider regional war.
Since the 12-day war with Israel in June, Tehran has openly prepared for multiple conflict scenarios.
The highly visible test marked Iran's latest attempt to project preparedness and strengthen measures to protect civilians, as officials continue to warn that the region has entered an increasingly dangerous phase.
The exercise underscored Iran's effort to strengthen emergency response systems after the June conflict exposed major weaknesses in public alerting and civil protection.
The fighting drew the United States, which carried out attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, reinforcing Tehran's belief that it must be able to warn the public quickly in a future confrontation.
Officials say reliable communication is essential amid rising geopolitical risks and the ongoing threat of natural disasters.
Selected users received notifications between 10:00 a.m. and noon local time, including a test notification that said: "This is a test message from the emergency alert system."
The warning appeared automatically on some devices and for some users it produced a sound or vibration.
Authorities stressed that the alert did not require any action from the public and stressed that the exercise did not indicate any real threat.
The test followed a series of warnings from senior Iranian officials, who have increasingly spoken of the possibility of a renewed or expanded conflict. /Telegraph/
