In the last nine days of December, 6151 traffic violations were recorded, 44 people were imprisoned for careless driving in accordance with Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Macedonia announces that in the period from December 01 to December 9, 2025, as a result of regular traffic checks carried out by police officers from all internal affairs departments on roads throughout the country, a total of 6151 fines were issued, of which 1573 violations were related to drivers who did not respect the established speed limit.
"44 people have been arrested for careless driving in accordance with Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, of which 33 for driving under the influence of alcohol, two drivers for driving in a prohibited direction, five people for driving at a speed higher than the speed limit in residential areas and four people for driving at a speed higher than the speed limit outside residential areas."
"According to the statistical review of police activities, 1511 violations for illegal parking were recorded, 620 measures were imposed on drivers who were driving without a driving license, 39 sanctions for running a red light, 32 measures for violations committed by pedestrians, as well as 173 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol."
"Also, 349 traffic participants were sanctioned for not using their seat belts, as well as 214 measures for drivers for using a mobile phone while driving. In accordance with the Law on Vehicles, 119 vehicles were removed from traffic because they were not registered, and 62 due to technical malfunction," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
