In honor of the 80th anniversary of the newspaper "Rilindja", the Post of Kosovo puts into circulation a new issue of postage stamps

On February 12, 2025, the Post of Kosovo, through its Philately, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the newspaper "Rilindja", puts into postal circulation a new issue of postage stamps.

This postage stamp issue lists the contribution of journalists, editors and all employees of the first written media in Kosovo, "Rilindja", since the publication of the first issue of the newspaper, on February 12, 1945.

Publishing the first issue of the newspaper required a lot of dedication and work, however, thanks to the great commitment of the employees, it was possible to manually work on the Albanian letters, so that the newspaper "Rilindja" was in the hands of readers from February 12, 1945.

"The contribution of the newspaper "Rilindja" is not limited to the field of information, since since 1946, it has become the bearer of numerous actions for the eradication of illiteracy and campaigns for women's education. With the transfer of the printing house to Pristina in 1958, the number of publications also increased, when "Rilindja" gradually transformed into a daily newspaper," their announcement states.

Furthermore, it is emphasized that during the period of information darkness in the 90s, as a result of violent measures, the publication of the newspaper “Rilindja” was banned on August 8, 1990. However, on January 18, 1991, the usurped employees managed to continue informing the local and international public through the use of the newspaper’s name “Bujku”.

"The extraordinary contribution of all journalists, editors and enthusiastic employees in overcoming challenges so that the newspaper "Rilindja" reaches the hands of readers has been and remains an invaluable asset in preserving national identity, as well as promoting the values ​​of freedom and democracy," the announcement continues.

The Kosovo Post further adds that this jubilee note should serve to reflect on the role and influence of the newspaper "Rilindja", as a strength, motivation and impetus to continue its noble mission in the future. /Telegraph/
