Kosovo mosques also lecture about elections

On the last Friday before election day in Kosovo, several mosques across the country, including the "Gazi Mehmet Pasha" mosque in Prizren, decided to hold Friday sermons specifically for the elections.

The imam of this mosque, Orhan Bislimaj, said that it is important for citizens to come out to vote, but first there was a prayer.

"The elections should be held in the best possible way, in a festive manner, without causing division or polarization among our people," he declared.

Meanwhile, Bislimaj said that it is important that citizens vote for those they think are the best, in campaigns that they believe the country needs to improve, and not for anyone's sake.

"When citizens vote, we will see which candidate, as this party, will fulfill my aspirations for the state of Kosovo for the next four-year period. When you vote, know that it is a kind of testimony before God and before the people," he declared.

Meanwhile, even at the Grand Mosque in Pristina, the February 9 elections were indirectly mentioned.

"Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change themselves. And to change ourselves for the better and to improve our being and future in our country, to respect the blood of the martyrs, to respect those who gave so much for our freedom," declared the imam of the Grand Mosque.

However, such lectures were not held in all mosques in Kosovo. /TV Dukagjini/
