Illegal appointment of directors, Merko sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment

Ramiz Merko was sentenced today to one year of suspended imprisonment for the illegal appointment of the principal of a school in Veleshta, provided that he does not repeat the same criminal offense within a period of one to two years.
The same decision was also imposed on two other defendants, including the former principal of the Veleshta school, Egzona Sheji. Meanwhile, for the Vëllezërit Miladinovci school, a fine (2500 euros) was imposed.
Public Prosecutor Xhemal Lloga is not satisfied with the decision and warned that he will appeal the decision, for which he believes that at least in one case the decision should have been with effective imprisonment.
"I did not expect a fine, considering that he was sentenced to probation for the first case, it should have been an effective sentence for the second case, because it is impossible to be sentenced to a fine for the same crime once, and to be sentenced to probation for the second case. Does this mean that you expected a prison sentence? Yes. Regarding the other cases, they have been appealed, are in the Court of Appeal and have not yet been returned and I do not know the outcome for the other cases," stated Xhemal Loga, prosecutor.
