"I was married to an Apollo astronaut, he believed we are not alone," the wife of the man who set foot on the Moon reveals the secrets he shared before he died

The wife of a former Apollo astronaut has revealed some of the secrets her husband shared before he died.

Anita Mitchell, the wife of the late NASA pilot Edgar Mitchell, who became the sixth man to walk on the moon in 1971, revealed that her husband always believed in the existence of UFOs.

According to her, many astronauts and pilots had witnessed unexplained phenomena during their missions.

She said that some of Edgar's fellow astronauts, including Apollo crewmate James McDivitt, also reported seeing strange objects while in space.

Some even encountered unusual vehicles while flying conventional aircraft over Earth, reports the Telegraph.

"I remember Gordy, astronaut Gordon Cooper Jr. telling us at a dinner at our house that he had seen something," Mitchell said.

"He said, listen, we don't have anything that goes this fast and goes this high," she recalls.

Edgar Mitchell, a former US Navy captain, was part of the Apollo 14 crew and became one of 12 astronauts to walk on the Moon in 1971.

Anita, has shared her personal experiences and the stories she learned from other early NASA astronauts in her new book, You Don't Look Like An Astronaut's Wife.

Edgar passed away in 2016, just before the 45th anniversary of his historic moon landing.

Before his death, Mitchell was vocal about his belief that the US government was hiding information regarding UFOs.

In 2009, he publicly called for the release of classified information, expressing his belief in the reality of alien life.

According to his wife, many of the astronauts she met during her husband's time at NASA shared the view that there was "something" beyond human understanding in terms of technology.

She now shares her husband's belief, adding: "Do you really think we're the only intelligence in the universe? Because if we are, the universe is in trouble." /Telegraph/
