Sogojeva: VAT to be reduced in 2025 and the issue of fiscal vouchers to be regulated

The President of the Kosovo Chamber of Hospitality and Tourism, Hysen Sogojeva, spoke about the number of tourists our country had during 2024. He also mentioned some of the concerns they have as a chamber, for which he hopes they will find solutions during 2025.

Sogojeva said that the number of tourists in our country also depends on the developments that occur.

"If we make some comparison between 2022 and 2023, the percentage has been higher, meaning 25% of tourists have increased within, let's say, the same period of 2022 and 2023, while if we compare 2023 and 2024, even though we have an increase, we still have a decrease, meaning somewhere around 13.7%, this statistic comes out, while before we had 25%. This is more or less related to the situation and to daily developments and events. It means, for example, it is a shame for tourism today to mention the word war," he emphasized.

Sogojeva said in an interview with Telegraf that the word war should be removed from the dictionary because it negatively affects tourists.

During the interview, he also spoke about some of the concerns they have as the Chamber of Hospitality and Tourism.

He emphasized that during 2025, VAT should be lowered and the issue of fiscal vouchers should also be regulated.

"In 2025, VAT must be lowered. No country in the region has 18%. Only we have 18%, especially in accommodation. VAT on basic products should also be exempted, for example, if you go and buy a kilogram of coffee today, calculate how much you bought four years ago and how much it is today," he stressed.

He also stated that there should be mechanisms that regulate the issue of fiscal coupons.

"Second, the work of fiscal coupons needs to be regulated, why is it done like this, not to mention torture for both the client and the workers who work on them, every drink a fiscal coupon. There is a mechanism, there should be a mechanism, which would regulate this," he said, while adding that facilitating policies for businesses need to be created.

Sogjeva also said that Kosovo continues to be the only one in the region that does not have a National Tourism Agency, and that this should be done as soon as possible.telegraph/
