"I didn't want to stay at Basel even though they were champions" - Kololli challenges Shaqiri for efficiency

Bernjamin Kololli is in exceptional form in the Swiss Super League. The Albanian striker has been one of the most talked about names in this second half of the season, after his return to the Sion team in January.

With nine goals scored so far – one for Basel and eight for Sion – Kololli has drawn attention for his efficiency.

He has played only 963 minutes for Sion and 155 minutes for Basel, but has managed to score a goal every 120 minutes for his current team, according to statistics published by “Blick”. In comparison, Xherdan Shaqiri, the top scorer with 18 goals, scores once every 140 minutes.

In this particular efficiency ranking, only Basel's Philipp Otele, who shoots on goal every 117 minutes, is better than Kololli.

His top form was confirmed at the weekend, when he scored twice in Sion's 2-1 win over Grasshopper, helping the team climb to ninth place with 44 points.

For "Blick", Kololli expressed his satisfaction with what he has achieved, even though he was able to win the championship title with Basel.

"Not bad, right? I'm happy. Many people told me that I would have been champion with Basel if I had stayed. But for me it's different. I didn't play there anymore. And if I had become champion that way, without playing, I wouldn't feel like a real champion."

"But everything is going great here. I would never have thought of this six months ago," Kololli declared.
