Hyundai launches a major project: Starts production of solid electrolyte batteries

Hyundai Motor Group plans to launch a pilot line for solid-state batteries next month at its newly built battery research center in Uiwang, South Korea.

The factory has been described as an important step in the company's strategy to become self-sufficient in the production of batteries for electric cars.

At this center, Hyundai will test the production of solid-state batteries to evaluate their performance and possibilities for large-scale production.

These are key steps towards the commercialization and mass production of this technology, which offers higher energy density and greater safety than current batteries.

If the experimental production proves successful, Hyundai will begin testing these batteries in cars within a year.

The key to commercialization will be the development of efficient manufacturing processes to reduce costs. Hyundai's long-term goal is to start mass production of solid-state batteries and integrate them into its cars around 2030. /Telegraph/
