Hoxhaj at the Convention: The race is not democratic, the president closed it in advance

Enver Hoxhaj gave a direct and unabashed speech at the Convention of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, where he openly criticized the current leadership for the way the party's electoral process was managed.
He said that PDK did not even give him an additional week to run for president, although he had also presented this request to Bedri Hamza in a meeting the day before.
According to Hoxhaj, the race was closed in advance by the incumbent mayor, Memli Krasniqi, who had publicly expressed support for the other candidate, orienting the process.
"When elections are announced in five days and the mayor's preference is immediately given, the race is not democratic," said Hoxhaj.
He added that his request to postpone the convention by just one week had been principled and not personal, in order to develop a real debate, platforms and ideas for the party's leadership.
During the speech, Hoxhaj also gave some "stings" within the party, emphasizing that the absence of Hashim Thaçi and Kadri Veseli is being felt in the PDK leadership.
"I'd love for them to come back and solve the leadership problem, wouldn't you?" he declared to the delegates.
Underlining that he is not finding equal conditions and a fair process, Hoxhaj announced that he will not participate in the race for PDK chairman.
"I love Kosovo. Now I love the KLA. Then the PDK. Then Hashim and Kadri. What I'm saying today will come to your mind tomorrow," he concluded.
