A house caught fire on Monday afternoon on "Enver Hadri" street in Prizren, causing material damage and injuring two people from smoke asphyxiation.

The news was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Prizren Region Police, Shaqir Bytyqi, who announced that the incident occurred at around 17:35.


According to him, the police patrol immediately went to the scene and contacted the complainant, who stated that under still unknown circumstances, a fire had broken out on the first floor of the residential building.

Firefighters have intervened at the scene, who have managed to locate and extinguish the fire. KEDS units and Emergency Medical Services have also arrived there.

Bytyqi announced that two people suffered smoke inhalation and received medical attention at the scene. According to the medical team, their health condition is stable and out of danger.

The material damage caused by the fire has not yet been assessed, while the investigating officer and the forensic unit have also arrived at the scene.

The state prosecutor has been notified of the case, upon whose order the case was initiated, while investigations are ongoing.
