Hoti demands Abdixhiku's resignation: The standard for resignation after a heavy defeat is clear

Hoti warns of resignation from party bodies if the LDK leadership does not take responsibility.
Former Prime Minister and member of the LDK Presidency, Avdullah Hoti, has called for unity and joint reflection within the Democratic League of Kosovo, following the poor results of the December 28, 2025 elections.
In a Facebook post, Hoti stressed that the LDK statute is clear: in the event of the resignation of the President, the Assembly is convened to be notified and then elects the new President, as happened in 2021.
He warned that any deviation from this procedure constitutes an attempt to relativize the political responsibility of the leadership.
Hoti emphasized that after the deep electoral defeat, the LDK needs new leadership and a comprehensive reorganization at all levels, in a transparent and statutory manner.
"The standard of resignation after a poor election result was set in 2021. This standard has been embraced and promoted persistently by Mr. Abdixhiku himself. Therefore, any attempt to avoid this standard today is in open contradiction to the principles that the current leadership itself has proclaimed as guiding values," Hoti wrote.
He also warned that, if the leadership does not take proper responsibility, he will resign from the party's governing bodies, calling this stance a principled political act, not an emotional one.
According to Hoti, the LDK has great political, human and programmatic potential, and this potential must be put at the service of citizens and the state through deep, comprehensive and transparent reform.
He called on all members of the Presidency, General Council, branch chairmen and delegates of the LDK Assembly to contribute to the selection of the new leadership and the proper direction of the party.Telegrafi/
