Honda and Nissan merger fails

Honda and Nissan signed a memorandum on December 23, 2024, to discuss a merger.

The plan was to create a new holding company to integrate the two major Japanese automakers and to go into operation as early as 2026.

However, immediately after the signing of the memorandum, sources close to the matter signaled that the agreement was destined to fail, reports the Telegraph.

Now it's official – the merger has been canceled.

Honda and Nissan issued identical press statements saying that merger talks have now ended.

The separate memorandum signed by Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi on December 23, 2024, has also been terminated.
