Henry on Mbappe and Haaland: We thought they were the successors of Messi and Ronaldo

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has shared his thoughts on Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland following their Champions League knockout tie (3-2).

"In my opinion, Mbappe needs more time. He is a player who has been trying to play as a number 9 for a year and a half," the French legend declared.

"PSG tried to use him in this role, but it didn't work. Now he's playing this way at Real, the biggest club in Europe. He has to adapt to that."

"Haaland has played as a striker since the beginning of his career. We thought these two would become the successors of Messi and Ronaldo."

"But now, instead of firmly establishing themselves in that status, people continue to question their play. Although not their statistics – from a goalscoring perspective, their numbers are simply astonishing."

"If I were a coach, I would choose Mbappe - without hesitation. Because he offers more options. It's easier for a coach: he can play on the right, left or in the center. Can Haaland play any other position besides number 9?" Henry further emphasized. /Telegraph/
