Hemingway book returned to Connecticut library after 56 years

A copy of Ernest Hemingway's book, "The Sun Also Rises," was returned to a Connecticut library 56 years late, along with a note explaining the reason for the delay and a check to cover the cost of the book.

Greenwich Library posted on social media saying the book could be "the most delayed book in the library's history."

The returned book was accompanied by a note that read, “I was born and raised in Greenwich – my family moved to upstate New York in 1980. I was recently going through some old boxes and found this book. I reread it and am now returning it – 56 years too late. I am enclosing a check which I hope will cover the cost of replacing the book. Thank you very much.”

Library officials thanked the former community member in their social media post.

"Thankfully we no longer have late fees. Thank you to the former user who mailed us this book, including a check to replace it with a newer copy," they wrote. /Telegraph/
