Headache for Man Utd owners: Brazilian should be paid like Ronaldo due to 'secret clause'

Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe wants to get rid of 33-year-old Casemiro due to his high wages, but the Brazilian could become an even bigger financial burden for the Old Trafford club.

According to Daily Mail, if United win the Europa League, which would qualify them for the Champions League, the Brazilian midfielder's earnings next season will increase by 25 percent under a "secret clause" in his contract.

United want to get rid of Casemiro's earnings of around €413,000 per week, and now the Brazilian's weekly earnings in the final year of his contract could rise to around €590,000 or around €30 million per year.

Let us remind you that Cristiano Ronaldo also earned just as much during his second time at the Old Trafford club.

By the way, in March, Ratcliffe named Casemiro as one of six players (along with Antony, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, Leando Martinez and Andre Onana) who are not good enough or are paid too much.

Meanwhile, Casemiro fell into the background with the arrival of coach Ruben Amorim, who chose youngster Toby Collyer.

However, the Brazilian has become an important player again in recent weeks and played one of the key roles in United's Europa League campaign and run to the final. /Telegraph/
