Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, who has been out for seven months due to a serious injury, could play in Saturday's league match against RB Leipzig, manager Vincent Kompany has confirmed.

Musiala was injured in July last year during the Club World Cup, when he broke his fibula and damaged ligaments in his left ankle in a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

"If everything goes well today, Musiala will be with us. I don't expect him to be a dominant player right away, but to slowly integrate into the team and at some point be 100 percent ready."

"When you come back after a long break, you appreciate things more than before. I see a lot of positive energy in Musiala as he comes out of the dark tunnel," Kompany said.

Bayern dominates even without him

Musiala scored 21 goals and provided eight assists for Bayern last season.

But despite his absence, the German champions are dominating the Bundesliga, winning 15 of their 17 games by an impressive goal difference of 66-13. Second-placed Borussia Dortmund are 11 points behind Bayern.

His return will also mean a lot to the German national team. Musiala has scored eight goals and provided the same number of assists in 40 appearances for the national team. /Telegraph/
