Former Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has reacted to the statement of the Ombudsman regarding the non-certification of the Serbian List by the Central Election Commission. She has described this reaction as "strange and unfair".

"The Ombudsman should more accurately represent the name it bears. This time, this institution has reacted to the non-certification of the Serbian List. A strange reaction, in addition to being unfair," said Haxhiu.

Haxhiu criticized the fact that an entity like the Serbian List, “which fights the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo, does not recognize Kosovo, had the chief criminal Radojčić as its vice-president and did not distance itself from the terrorist act in Banjska,” can be so easily defended by the Ombudsman. “Not only did it not distance itself, but it held three days of mourning for the terrorists killed there,” she emphasized.

The former minister added that the Ombudsman has not expressed concern about the difficulties that, according to her, are being caused to diaspora voters.

"The Ombudsman has not expressed any concern about the ongoing trends and decisions that are making it difficult for our diaspora to vote," Haxhiu declared.

According to her, the CEC's decision "is not against Serbian entities nor Serbian citizens", emphasizing that "the CEC has already certified several Serbian entities" and that the reasons for the non-certification of the Serbian List "are known and justified".

Among other things, Haxhiu has accused the Ombudsman of selectivity.

"The OI should not operate with double standards. This kind of selectivity contradicts the principles of transparency and impartiality that the OI should protect," she concluded.
